DULUTH, MN (CBS-3) – The Duluth Police Department had a busy Sunday responding to incidents involving guns.
The first happening around 2:30 a.m. as Duluth Police Officers heard gunshots in the area of the 100 Block of E. #2 Alley.
Squads also received a report and spoke to a witness.
On scene, officers found 17 bullet casings and a damaged sign.
No suspects were located and no injuries were reported.
The second incident happened shortly after at 3:10 a.m. when officers got a call with a report of a vehicle swerving while exiting I-35 onto Mesaba Avenue.
Squad cars tracked down the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 100 Block of East 4th Street.
During the traffic stop officers found four loaded handguns as well as loaded magazines.
A 25-year-old male was taken to the St. Louis County Jail for a warrant and Possession of a firearm with a altered serial number.
Another occupant of the vehicle, a 29-year-old male, was taken to jail for possession of a firearm with an altered serial number as well as possession of a handgun in a motor vehicle.
In a third incident, one man has been taken into custody following a shots fired incident on Highway I-35 on Sunday night.
According to a Duluth Police spokesperson, the situation is still under investigation.
There are no known injuries associated with the weapon being fired.
