DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A 31.5 million dollar project to rebuild Superior Street through downtown Duluth was completed on Friday.
Construction began in 2018 from West 6th Street to East 4th Street and completion of the final section was delayed by about a year due to the weather and some unexpected finds below the surface of the road.
The project replaced the bricks that were installed in the 1980’s and replaced utilities that had been in service since the 1880’s.
The street work coincided with the conversion of the downtown steam heating system to a more efficient hot water distribution system.
