DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Responding to a call regarding a medical emergency on Monday afternoon, the Duluth Fire Department found a man down on the Lake Superior beach about a thousand yards east of Leif Erickson Park.
Emergency crews were able to access the location by walking the beach and other crews climbed down a 30 foot embankment from the Lakewalk below the Rose Garden.
It was decided that the best way to evacuate the patient would be by boat.
He was loaded onto the Fire Department’s Marine 19 vessel and transported to an area behind the DECC where an ambulance was waiting.
The patient was conscious when transported but his overall condition is not known.
The Fire Department says the man did not fall from the Lakewalk but experienced the medical condition while on the beach.
